Carson City Symphony Association announces the Joyful Noise Carson Children’s Choir will begin Spring semester rehearsals on Monday, Jan. 22. The weekly sessions will be held onstage at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall through May.

A 30-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Saturday in the area of Highway 50 East for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI after being stopped for going the wrong way, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

I was recently reading a magazine called “Garden Design” that featured award-winning eco-friendly gardens. In it was a story by Louisa Jones about ecologist and landscape architect, Gilles Clément. A 33-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Friday for suspicion of gross misdemeanor battery on a protected person and misdemeanor charges of resisting an officer, domestic battery second offense and violation of a suspended sentence.

Twenty graduates from the Nevada Highway Patrol Advanced Academy 78 received the title of Trooper at their graduation ceremony held Jan. 5 at the Nevada State Capitol in Carson City.

The Carson City District Attorney’s Office won convictions of two defendants charged with felony offenses this week.

CARSON CITY — Gov. Brian Sandoval announced Friday the appointment of Becky Harris as chairwoman of the Nevada Gaming Control Board. Harris will serve as the first female chair of the regulatory board which serves the state’s largest economic industry, gaming.

In an effort to showcase the value of coming to school and being on time, Carson Middle School administrators, social workers and safe school professionals have taken a positive approach to motivate students. On Monday, Jan. 8, the first day back from the holidays, students were welcomed by school officials dressed in dinosaur suits holding giant banners and delivering cheers and “High Fives.”
