Carson City arrests: Man accused of trying to gain entry into home as family watched movie
A 32-year-old man was arrested late Friday for suspicion of felony residential burglary, attempted home invasion and a lesser offense, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
Samuel Santana Martinez, listed as being a Carson City resident, was taken into custody at 10:06 p.m. He was also booked for suspicion of misdemeanor trespassing.
According to the arrest report, deputies were called to a residence in reference to a burglary in progress and that the subject was inside the garage attempting to gain entry into the residence. Deputies arrived and the suspect, Martinez, was detained in the side yard of the residence.
Deputies spoke with the victims, who had been watching a movie with their family and heard a noise in the garage. The reporting party opened the door to the garage, turned on the light and saw the suspect. The reporting party shut the door, and yelled for her husband to call 911, the report states.
The husband grabbed a knife and barricaded the interior door. The suspect began turning the door knob, however the husband kept the door shut. The suspect then began banging on the glass of a kitchen window, the report states. At around that time, officers arrived at the scene, located the suspect and placed him in custody. At the time of his arrest the suspect smelled strongly of alcohol and had urinated himself, the report states. Total bail amount listed: $30,242.

— A 41-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI, expired license plates and failure to obey a traffic control device.
According to the booking report, deputies were patrolling the area of Menlo Drive and North Lompa Lane and observed a sedan parked on the south side of Menlo Drive facing east. Deputies then observed the vehicle reverse turn south onto Lompa Lane, traveling north. The vehicle then drove backward and failed to make a complete stop at the stop sign, located at Menlo Drive and Lompa Lane.
Officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 50 East at a gas station. Dispatch advised the registration of the vehicle had expired April 12. Deputies made contact with the driver and told him the reason for the stop.
While speaking, a deputy observed the man was shaking, and his eyes were watery. The man was asked why he was shaking. He told the deputy that law enforcement makes him nervous. Deputies could smell an odor of alcohol coming from his person. The man agreed to standardized field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment, the report states.
He provided a preliminary breath test of .149 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI, failure to obey a traffic control device and driving with expired registration. At jail he agreed to evidentiary breath tests with results of .101 and .101. Bail: $1,321.
— A 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday for suspicion of minor consuming, possessing alcohol in public. Bail: $242.
