Carson City emergency crews called to bicycle crash in Ash Canyon
Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called late Sunday morning to the area of Ash Canyon for a bicycle rider who crashed and suffered injuries.
The call came into dispatch at 11:35 a.m. Carson City emergency units have responded to the area, reportedly near the water tower. An air ambulance was ordered. At around 12:05 p.m. paramedics and sheriff's deputies reached the patient and were preparing to bring him off the canyon trail to a nearby helicopter landing zone.
The rescue was an extended operation as the rider had to be retrieved off trail from a difficult location to reach.
The injured rider was then taken to a waiting CalStar air ambulance and was flown at 1:05 p.m. to the trauma ward at Renown Medical Center in Reno. Their condition is unknown at this time.
