Carson City emergency crews called to crash in 3300 block of Highway 50 East
Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called late Wednesday morning to a two-vehicle crash in the 3300 block of Highway 50 East. A Care Flight air ambulance landed near the crash scene and flew one patient to the hospital.
The wreck was reported at 11:10 a.m. near a restaurant and the Country Store. It involves a single vehicle on its side and a second vehicle. One person was airlifted and one was taken by ground ambulance, according to emergency responders on scene.
Eastbound traffic was reopened at around 11:53 a.m. Westbound traffic is being diverted and moving slowly. Motorists can expect delays.
This is the second crash in two days in which a Care Flight air ambulance has been called. On Tuesday emergency crews responded to a rollover in the northbound lane of I-580 off-ramp at the Fairview exit. One person was flown by Care Flight and the other person was taken to the hospital via ground ambulance. Their conditions are unknown at this time.
The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Nevada Highway Patrol.
