Second suspect arrested in February attempted kidnapping case
The Carson City Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division has continued its investigation into the attempted kidnapping which occurred on February 8, 2024. As a result of the investigation, detectives developed probable cause to arrest Richard Henley.
An arrest warrant was issued for Richard for the following charges:
- Attempted Kidnapping, First Degree.
- Battery with the Use of a Deadly Weapon.
- Assault with a deadly weapon.
- Burglary while in possession of a Firearm or Deadly Weapon.
- Impersonating a Public Officer.
The Carson City Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team arrested Richard on April 11, 2024, without incident. Richard is being held at the Carson City Sheriff’s Office on $50,000 bail.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office SWAT and Special Enforcement units took 30-year-old Aaron Friesen, (9/13/93) into custody at approximately 2:35 p.m. at a downtown North Curry Street residential Inn. Friesen had been identified as one of two suspects who attempted a forceful kidnapping on February 8, 2024 at the 1300 block of Fleetwood Avenue in Carson City.
On February 8, 2024, at approximately 10:10 a.m., the Sheriff’s Office responded to the Fleetwood Avenue address where the reporting persons alleged an attempted abduction at gunpoint had taken place.
The victim was identified as a 20-year-old adult male. It was reported that the victim had been handcuffed by two men who presented themselves as federal officers making an arrest.
After the victim was handcuffed, his 56-year-old roommate became suspicious, and a physical fight ensued. Both suspects fled the area. Minor injuries to the roommate were reported, but medical attention was not required.
Detectives investigating the incident learned that neither suspect was known to the victims, but they had fled in a white Chevy Tahoe. Detectives were able to track information related to the vehicle and identified Aaron Friesen as one of the two suspects.
On February 9th, the suspects vehicle was located at a North Curry Street downtown Inn. Friesen was taken into custody by a SWAT Unit without incident. The second unidentified suspect remains at large. The unidentified suspect was described as a while male wearing dark clothing. Both suspects were wearing apparel consistent with law enforcement persons.
Friesen was transported to the Carson City Jail and booked on the charges of Attempted Kidnapping with a Deadly Weapon, Battery and Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Burglary with a Deadly Weapon, and Impersonating a Peace Officer. Bail was set at $100,000.00.
