One dead, one in critical condition after early morning shooting in South Lake Tahoe
An early Wednesday morning shooting in South Lake Tahoe has left one man dead and another in the hospital with critical injuries, according to police.
At around 1 a.m., several calls were received by the 911 dispatch about shots fired in the Sierra Boulevard area. Officers responded and found one man with numerous gunshot wounds. He was transported and later died, according to South Tahoe Police.
A second person was also found with gunshot wounds. He was transported to Barton Hospital where he is listed in critical, but stable condition, according to South Lake Tahoe Police Sgt. Travis Cabral.
Sierra Boulevard between Kubel Avenue and Alma Avenue is still closed and people are asked to find an alternate route.
The identities of the victims have not been released. In a social media release, South Lake Tahoe Police said "at this time there is no threat to the community related to this incident."
