Carson City arrests: Man jailed for drug possession following altercation at clinic
A 22-year-old Dayton man was arrested Monday afternoon for possession of a controlled substance, a felony and two lesser charges, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.
Nicholas Alec Canas was taken into custody at 1:11 p.m. in the 700 block of Fleischmann Way. According to the arrest report, deputies were sent to a clinic for an altercation at the facility. Dispatch provided information on the suspect, who is currently on supervision with the Nevada Department of Parole and Probation.
Deputies arrived on scene and attempted to locate the males involved in the altercation. A deputy made contact with the suspect, who drove up to the front entrance of the clinic in a vehicle. The man advised the altercation with the other male was only verbal, according to the arrest report.
A deputy had his K9 dog Tarzan perform a free air sniff of the vehicle he was driving. The dog alerted positive to the presence of illegal narcotics in the Honda and the man was detained. During a search of the vehicle deputies located a plastic bottle that contained marijuana and a small clear plastic baggie with small drops of THC oil, the arrest report states.
There was a piece of folded aluminum foil at the bottom of the bottle. The foil contained burned brown residue consistent with heroin, according to the arrest report. He was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and a parole and probation violation in which his was placed on a no bail hold in lieu of a hearing. Bail listed for the other charges: $3,637.

— A 22-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday in the area of Long and Rand streets for misdemeanor probation violation. According to the arrest report a deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for failure to stop at the intersection of Long and Molly streets.
The officer made contact with the driver. Dispatch advised he was on Alternative Sentencing with a "no alcohol" clause. The man stated he had consumed a 24-ounce beer approximately 5 hours prior. He provided a preliminary breath test with a result of 0.197. Dispatch advised that Alternative Sentencing wanted him arrested for probation violation. Bail: $3,000.
— A 38-year-old Pollock Pines man was booked into Carson City jail for a violation of suspended sentence warrant issued May 19, 2016 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.
