A Carson City man, arrested in July 2016 for the death of an elderly Newport Beach, Calif. man, was convicted Tuesday of first-degree murder.
Anthony Thomas Garcia, 62, was convicted in Orange County, Calif., Superior Court of first-degree murder and faces 25 years to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

On April 11, 2015, the Newport Beach Police Department responded to a residence in reference of a reported death. The deceased was identified as Abelardo Lopez Estacion, an 81-year-old resident of the home who owned rental property worth millions.
During the course of the investigation, detectives determined Estacion’s death was a homicide and identified Garcia as a suspect in the case.
Carson City Sheriff's Office investigators assisted Newport Beach, Calif., detectives in Garcia's arrest, made on July 28, 2016, in Carson City.
