Carson City arrests: Argument over apartment smell sends man to jail for domestic battery
A 29-year-old man was arrested Monday for suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery, a Carson City sheriff's booking report states.
According to the arrest report, officers were dispatched to meet with a reporting party who stated her daughter had been battered by her boyfriend.
A deputy spoke to the male suspect who identified himself and stated he and his girlfriend were in a relationship and that she was pregnant. He explained they had moved into the apartment earlier in the week and got into an argument over how the apartment smelled.
The suspect told the officer the argument got heated and said he used the woman's hands to grab her face to make her look at him. He described his actions to the officer and shook his hands in a violent manner and said he screamed "look at me." He stated the woman then punched him in the face and called her mother.
The deputy spoke with the victim who explained the same altercation, however she stated the man had slapped her cell phone out of her hands while they were verbally arguing as he did not want her to call her mother, the report states.
The victim stated she was sitting against the wall in their bedroom and said here boyfriend grabbed her head with both hands and shook her, in which she hit the back of her head on the wall behind her, causing a small bump on the back of her head and swelling on her face where she said the man grabbed her, the report states.
She stated she did strike her boyfriend in the face as he was standing over her. She said she was scared for her safety and her unborn baby's welfare. The man was arrested for suspicion of domestic battery and taken to jail. Bail: $3,137.
