Supervisors seek to fill Carson City open space advisory, transportation commission seats
The Carson City Board of Supervisors is seeking persons interested in serving on its Open Space Advisory Committee and the Regional Transportation Commission.
For the Open Space Advisory Committee there are 2 open positions, for a partial term that expires January 2023. The purpose of the Committee is to promote the quality of life for citizens of Carson City through the preservation and protection of the natural environment — specific duties of the Committee are defined in CC Municipal Code Ch. 13.06.
Meetings are held the third Monday of every other month at 5:30 p.m. in the Sierra Room at the Carson City Community Center. Applicants must be Carson City registered voters to qualify.
All applications submitted to this office will be considered public information. Applications will be accepted until April 8, 2021. Interviews for this volunteer position are tentatively planned to be held at the regularly scheduled Board of Supervisors meeting on Thursday, April 15, 2021.
Carson City Board of Supervisors is also seeking applications from persons interested in serving on the Regional Transportation Commission. The RTC is the policy making body on transportation issues within Carson City whose purpose is to establish priorities and recommend appropriate funding for transportation improvement projects.
The members of the Regional Transportation Commission also serve on the Carson Area Metropolitan Planning Organization Board (CAMPO) to discuss and take action on federal monies spent on transportation and transit projects within the Carson Metropolitan Planning Area.
There is one position open, for a partial term that expires December 2022.
The Commission meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 4:30 p.m. after the adjournment of the CAMPO meeting. Applicants should be prepared for a minimum commitment of up to 10 hours a month. The position shall serve without compensation.
