Carson City Public Works does water fire flow testing Wednesday, discolored water reported
Carson City Public Works was scheduled to do water fire flow testing on Wednesday, March 10. Public Works advises to expect temporary periods of discolored water in the areas surrounding the intersections of Ormsby Boulevard and West Washington Street; West Long Street and Andorra Drive; and West Sunset Way and West Washington Street.
Water fire flow testing was also being done this week in the area east of Carson River Road and west of the river as the area north of Hells Bells Road, east of Fairview Drive and south of Highway 50.
Residents in the area have reported water discoloration. According to Carson City Public Works, the discoloration is caused by naturally occurring minerals which accumulate in our water system; it is not harmful. Public Works advises to avoid washing light colored laundry if water is discolored.
Any discoloration is expected to clear up in a few hours. If you have any questions or concerns, contact Public Works at 887-2355.
