Carson City arrests: Man tells friends he's 'sorry' via social media message for stealing their car

A 35-year-old man was arrested Tuesday for suspicion of felony grand larceny of a motor vehicle, a Carson City sheriff's arrest report states.

Terron Evans was arrested in the 800 block of East William Street. According to the booking report, deputies responded at 3:35 p.m. to an Allouette Way residence in regard to a vehicle theft.

Officers met with the reporting party (RP) who said that he and the suspect were hanging out the night previous and the suspect repeatedly asked him if he could borrow a vehicle. The reporting party refused. He told officers he fell asleep and then woke up to find his 2010 Subaru Legacy missing.

The reporting party stated he never gave Evans permission to borrow any vehicle and wanted to pursue criminal charges for unlawful taking of the vehicle, which belonged to him and his girlfriend.

The reporting party stated they contacted the man using a social media messenger. The suspect claimed he had the vehicle and said he was "sorry." In the messages he tells the reporting party that he is on his way to Carson City with the vehicle and is going to return it.

At 7:36 p.m. a deputy was dispatched to the area of Mills Park in reference to the Subaru being returned. The suspect left a text message claiming he returned the vehicle to the area near Mills Park and the reporting party would know where it would be, the booking report states.

Officers arrived and located the stolen Subaru off 800 East William Street parked in the center of a parking lot. Deputies could see the suspect standing in the doorway of an apartment. The suspect saw an officer and quickly ran into an apartment and locked the door, according to the report.

Additional deputies responded, maintaining a perimeter. A search warrant for the apartment was applied for. After a few moments passed, the suspect exited the apartment and peacefully surrendered to deputies. He was arrested for suspicion of grand larceny of a motor vehicle.

Evans was read his Miranda warning and he refused to speak. Evidence was collected and the man was taken to jail. Bail: $25,000.

— A 37-year-old man, Curtis Mock, was arrested Tuesday in the 500 block of North Carson Street for suspicion of felony carrying a concealed deadly weapon (knife), gross misdemeanor possession of a dangerous weapon (sand club) and misdemeanor violation of a suspended sentence.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called to a casino for a report of a man panhandling and bothering customers. Deputies learned the man fled the property and dropped a metal object out of his jacket. He was located by deputies at the corner of East Robinson and North Plaza Street.

When asked if he had any weapons on him, the man opened his jacket where the officer observed the handle for a knife. The man was instructed not to grab the knife. The man promptly reached into his jacket and withdrew the knife and threw it on the ground in front of him, the arrest report states.

The officer checked him for weapons, and felt an object in his right coat pocket that felt like a bag of marbles, the arrest report states. The item was removed. It was a sock filled with rocks with a knot tied on the end to prevent the rocks from falling out.

The item is a homemade weapon, commonly known as a "slap sock" or a "slap jack," according to the arrest report. He was booked for suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a dangerous weapon, and violation of Department of Alternative Sentencing conditions. Bail: $13,500.
