Carson Middle School initiates 'hold' protocol Wednesday morning after student shouts 'gun' in hallway
Carson City School District said Wednesday that Carson Middle School was placed on the Standard Response Protocol “Hold” due to a disruption at school from a student who shouted “gun” during a passing period.
Students and staff were asked to "Hold" in their area while school administrators located the student for questioning. Hold is followed by the Directive: "In Your Room or Area" and is the protocol used when hallways need to be kept clear of occupants.
School Resource Officers quickly determined there was no imminent threat on campus, and the instructional day continued as normal, according to a statement that went out to parents through Parent Square.
The incident happened at around 9:45 a.m. School administrators and School Resource Officers were able to learn who the student was who made the statement and disciplinary steps are being taken, said Carson City School District spokesman Dan Davis.
