Carson City investigators say homeless woman found dead inside van that had been towed
The Carson City Sheriff's Office responded late Tuesday morning after a homeless woman was discovered dead inside a van that had been towed earlier.
The woman was discovered inside the van by a towing company driver at its facility in the 5000 block of Highway 50, said Carson City Sheriff's Office Capt. Brian Humphrey.
The tow truck driver reported a deceased female in a vehicle he had been called to remove. The owner of a local business contacted the tow company to remove the vehicle believing it had been abandoned after it had been there for a long period of time.
Detectives discovered the body of an older female who had been living in the vehicle. The female was covered up in blankets and clothing making it hard to see her from the outside of the vehicle, said Capt. Humphrey.
There are no signs of foul play and all indications the death is of natural causes, he said. The investigation is still ongoing pending medical examiners report. No names will be released until notification of family has been done.
