Carson City arrests: Driver jailed for suspected DUI admits to having 3 whiskey shots, smoking pot
A 54-year-old woman was arrested Monday for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI alcohol/drugs and failure to maintain a lane of traffic, a Carson City Sheriff's Office arrest report states.
According to the booking report, a deputy was alerted to a possible DUI driver on the I-580 freeway near Fairview. The officer followed the vehicle and watched it make abrupt lane change lanes, traveling between the No. 1 and No. 3 vehicle lanes. The deputy feared the vehicle was going to cause a crash and made a vehicle stop.
The officer made contact with the driver and could smell an odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver told the deputy she had been in Reno and had smoked in her car, the report states. The officer advised it wasn't safe to smoke and drive, and commented that she wouldn't drink and drive. The woman advised she had been drinking, having had three shots of whiskey prior to driving.
She agreed to voluntarily submit to standardized field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. She provided a preliminary breath test of .171 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. Bail: $1,224.
