Carson City emergency crews called to crash involving multiple vehicles on I-580
UPDATE 8:30PM: Traffic along southbound I-580 in north Carson City is beginning to move, slowly, as NDOT sanders have been able to put down sand and brine on the pavement. Several vehicles were involved in the crash and some vehicles became stuck due to icy conditions. One person was reportedly taken to Carson Tahoe hospital.

Carson City Fire Department, sheriff's deputies and the Nevada Highway Patrol were called Tuesday evening to a crash involving multiple vehicle in the southbound lane of I-580 near the North Carson Street exit and the top of Lakeview Hill.
The incident was reported just after 7:05 p.m. and reportedly involves multiple vehicles. Carson City paramedics were responding and a NDOT street sander has been called to the scene due to slick conditions and emergency crews unable to reach the accident scene.
A Carson City Public Works street sander was also responding due to the situation.
At least one injury was reported and others were in need of medical evaluation. Carson City sheriff's deputies on scene report slick conditions and are re-directing traffic. Chains and snowtires are required on I-580 from Carson City through Washoe Valley.
Motorists should avoid the area and find an alternative route.
