Carson City arrests: Man admits to stealing tools, beer from golf course maintenance shed
A 39-year-old man was arrested Monday for suspicion of commercial burglary and other alleged offenses after he was seen on surveillance video breaking into a golf course maintenance shed, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
Mark Clayton Susoeff was taken into custody at 1:25 p.m. in the area of Highway 50 East and Deer Run Road. He was booked for suspicion of felony commercial burglary, possession of a controlled substance, gross misdemeanor possession of burglary tools and possession of stolen property.
According to the booking report, deputies were dispatched to a commercial burglary report at Silver Oak Golf Course. The reporting party advised someone broke into the maintenance shed on the north side of the driving range.
Deputies arrived on scene and reviewed security footage where surveillance cameras were posted on the outside of the maintenance shed, which captured the burglary.
The video showed a red older model vehicle pull onto the property, where a male occupant exited the vehicle, popped open the vehicle's trunk and then pried open the door, where he entered the building and later exited carrying a red ice chest containing miscellaneous tools, some which fell out of the ice chest, as well as Miller Lite beer cases.
The man, wearing a fedora-style hat, is seen re-entering the maintenance shed and left with two additional cases of beer. Video surveillance also shows him attempting to fill a gas canister with the gas pumps located outside the maintenance shed. The gas pumps, however, were locked so he was unable to pump any gas.
He additionally took a gas can with some gas left inside. The complete list of stolen items included a Milwaukee 18v gold drill kit, a Dewalt grinder, a Snap-On torch wrench and a 5 gallon gas can containing some gas. All valued at $1,148.
At around 1:12 p.m. a deputy located the suspect vehicle near the intersection of Highway 50 East and Deer Run Road and a traffic stop was made. Deputies identified the stolen items, including the beer and ice chest containing tools. The driver matched the description seen in the video, the report states. The fedora-style hat was on the dashboard.
The man was read his Miranda warning. He waived his right and spoke with the officer, later admitting that he entered the front door by tampering with the lock and taking miscellaneous tools, gas can and beer. During a search of the vehicle deputies also located a backpack that included burglary tools and a plastic baggie with suspected methamphetamine. Bail: $20,000.
