Carson City arrests: Man jailed for warrants that allege obtaining money by false pretense

A 28 year-old Carson City man was arrested late Friday night in the 3900 block of U.S. Highway 50 East on multiple outstanding bench warrants, including two felony counts, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

Kyle Anthony Zemp was taken into custody following a business check by sheriff's deputies, who observed the suspect entering the retail business. He was recognized by law enforcement from previous contacts and his active warrants were known, the arrest report said.

Zemp was contacted by the deputies and detained in handcuffs. He was transported to the Carson City Jail at 10:23 p.m. for booking.

Al three warrants were issued by the Carson City Justice Court; two alleging felony obtaining money by false pretense and one misdemeanor suspended sentence violation. Bail: $41,000.

In other arrests:
— A 37 year-old Carson City woman was arrested Friday evening at 6:35 p.m. in the 200 block of W. Caroline Street on a felony burglary warrant as well as for both felony and gross misdemeanor drug possession, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

Michelle Deann McKnight was taken into custody after being served with an arrest warrant. She was observed walking on the first floor of an apartment building and detained, the arrest report said.

The felony burglary bench warrant issued by the Carson City Justice Court was confirmed along with a misdemeanor theft warrant active out of Douglas County, and McKnight was placed under arrest.

During the search for weapons, a small plastic baggie in her right sleeve containing five pink Oxycontin pills was recovered, the report said.

Oxycontin is a controlled drug legally available by prescription only and McKnight had no prescription present for them, the report said.

She was transported to the Carson City Jail and booked without incident. Bail: $7,137.

— An 18 year-old Dayton woman was arrested early Saturday morning at 2:33 a.m. in the area of U.S. Highway 50 East and Airport Road for misdemeanor first-offense driving under the influence (DUI) alcohol as well as for misdemeanor minor consumption of alcohol, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

According to the arrest report, a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by the 18 year-old suspect was made for a tail light violation. During the stop, sheriff's deputies observed the smell of alcohol coming from the driver.

When asked if she had been drinking, the driver admitted to having consumed one hard lemonade, the report said.

She was hesitant to participate in standard field sobriety tests (SFSTs) because she didn't want to get in trouble and was afraid she'd fail the tests, the report said.

A deputy informed the driver that he was concerned she was impaired and unsafe to drive. At that point, the 18 year-old suspect agreed to the SFSTs, the report said, completing multiple tests unsatisfactorily and showing signs of impairment.

The suspect also consented to a preliminary breath test (PBT) that yielded breath-alcohol content (BAC) of .126 percent. She was placed in handcuffs at that point and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $1,491.

— A 30 year-old Carson City man was arrested late Friday night at 11:22 p.m. in the 2800 block of N. Carson Street on an outstanding misdemeanor bench warrant and misdemeanor ex-felon failing to register, a Carson City sheriff's deputy reported.

According to the arrest report, a sheriff's deputy on patrol observed two male subjects walking south on N. Carson Street off the sidewalk and in the roadway.

A pedestrian stop for jaywalking was made at that point and the deputy contacted the two subjects, who identified themselves.

A criminal history through Carson City Dispatch showed the 30 year-old suspect to be an ex-felon from California convicted of drug possession with intent to sell in 2016 and for trafficking in Douglas County in 2007, the report said.

The suspect had not registered in Carson City.

A wants and warrants check confirmed an outstanding arrest warrant issued by the Carson City Justice Court for failing to appear on a traffic violation.

He was handcuffed and placed under arrest at that time and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $1,164.
