Carson City sheriff’s log: Argument over Donald Trump leads to assault arrest
A 21-year-old man was arrested early Tuesday on a misdemeanor charge of battery after allegedly punching his neighbor after the two began to argue about presidential candidate Donald Trump, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched at 12:38 a.m. to the 400 block of South Saliman Road for a call of two men arguing outside.
An officer made contact with the victim who explained he was drinking with his neighbor and that the two began arguing and that he was punched in the face, the arrest report states.
The victim said his neighbor then left and his wife called 911. The victim signed a citizen’s arrest form.
Deputies then made contact with the suspect who stated the two began to argue about Donald Trump and that he became upset and punched the man in the face. He was taken into custody on a charge of misdemeanor battery. Bail: $1,137.
In other arrests:
— A 30-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday afternoon in the 1100 block of Woodside Drive on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, deputies responded to the area on a school related matter. As an officer approached the apartment area he observed the suspect exit. The officer recognized the man from previous experiences and knew there was a warrant in the process of being issued.
The officer informed dispatch and then asked the man if he would speak with him. The man initially walked away. Dispatch advised the man did have a confirmed warrant for his arrest for suspicion of domestic battery first offense out of Carson City Justice Court. He was taken into custody at 1:44 p.m. Bail: $3,000.
— A 36-year-old Carson City man was booked into jail Tuesday, 11 p.m. on a contempt of court warrant issued Jan. 10, 2016 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $5,000.
— A 34-year-old Carson City man was booked into custody Tuesday, 9 p.m. on a misdemeanor warrant, violation of a suspended sentence, issued Jan. 14, 2016 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.
— A 55-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 5:14 p.m. in the area of Valley and Washington streets on two misdemeanor warrants issued out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $6,000.
— A 36-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 11:22 p.m. outside the area of the Carson City Jail on East Musser Street on a misdemeanor charge of violation of bail conditions.
According to the arrest report the man told deputies he had been drinking beer and wanted to turn himself in because he was in violation of his alternative sentencing conditions by having consumed alcohol.
The man slurred his words and had difficulty standing upright. He submitted to a preliminary breath test with a .121 BAC. Alternative Sentencing advised deputies to arrest the man for being in violation of a “no alcohol” condition as a term in his probation. Bail: $3,000.
