Carson City, Lyon and Douglas prepare for localized flooding from incoming storm
Carson City Public Works crews are spending Wednesday assessing drain inlets and opening storm drains as the brunt of a winter storm is expected to bring drenching rain and high winds to the valley region and feet of snow in the high Sierra.
As of 10 a.m. Wednesday morning, only flood prone areas around Carson City are experiencing minor localized flooding as conditions show rain in the valley, according to public works.
City officials encourage residents to prepare as necessary, as weather conditions can rapidly change. Check nearby storm drains and remove any blockage if possible.
Self-filling sandbag locations are stocked with bags and sand; please bring your own shovel. Sand bag are at the following Carson City locations:
— Winnie Ln/Foothill Dr
— Fire Station 52, 2400 College Parkway
— Public Works Corporate Yard, 3505 Butti Way
— Ross Gold Park, 280 Appion Way
