Carson City area road report for week of Feb. 13-19
Here is the Carson City area road report for the week of Feb. 13-19, 2023. Closures are expected at the following locations, weather permitting, due to road and utility work:
— Caroline Street between Valley Street and Anderson Street will be closed, Monday through Thursday, 7:00am to 5:30pm for roadway reconstruction.
Lane restrictions are expected at the following locations due to road/utility work:
Anderson Street between Washington Street and Robinson Street will have narrowed lanes, Monday – Thursday, 7:00am to 5:30pm for roadway reconstruction.
— Convair Drive between Boeing Way and Arrowhead Drive will have narrowed lanes, Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 5:00pm for utility work.
— Colorado Street between S. Carson Street and Saliman Road will have narrowed lanes, Monday through Thursday, 7:00am to 5:30pm for roadway reconstruction.
— California Street between Colorado Street and Industrial Park Drive will have narrowed lanes, Monday through Thursday, 7:00am to 5:30pm for roadway reconstruction.
— Winnie Lane between Ash Canyon Road and N. Ormsby Boulevard will have narrowed lanes, Wednesday, 7:00am to 5:00pm for utility work.
— Telegraph Street between Hackamore Way and Catalpa Way will have narrowed lanes, Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 4:00pm for utility work.
— Research Way between College Parkway and Goni Road will have narrowed lanes, Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 5:00pm for utility work.
Elsewhere, the Nevada Department of Transportation will open commute-hour one-lane traffic on State Route 208 through the Wilson Canyon in Lyon County as repairs continue following a major landslide.
Beginning Monday, Feb. 13, the currently-closed section of roadway will open to traffic daily from 5am to 8am and 5pm to 8pm. Drivers should anticipate up to 20-minute travel delays as pilot cars alternate directions of traffic. Reduced speeds will be in place entering the work zone.
The roadway may be closed for driver and worker safety during severe weather. Outside of these hours, the roadway will remain closed between Hudson Aurora Road and State Route 339.
In coming weeks, NDOT will work to open the section of highway to travel during additional daytime hours.
Drivers are asked to avoid unnecessary travel in the area. Alternate routes are sparse in the rural area. Highway detour routes include U.S. 395, U.S. 50 and U.S. 95A between the Yerington and Douglas County areas.
