Man arrested after attacking woman, calling a child racist slurs, and pretending to stab himself

A 40-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the area of N. Mountain Street and W. Nye Lane Monday night for suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery and DUI after allegedly calling a child racist slurs, body slamming a woman, pretending to stab himself in the leg with a kitchen knife, threatening to commit suicide by cop and fleeing the scene with a BB gun.

Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to a local mobile home park in reference to an unknown problem. According to the arrest report, an anonymous reporting party said someone was stabbed and a female was heard screaming in the background “get off me!”

Deputies arrived on scene just as a man in a gold minivan was pulling out of the mobile home park. Deputies suspected the man was involved in some way, as he looked “sweaty and nervous.”

An additional deputy was sent after him while deputies went into the mobile home park. A man flagged them down and stated they were looking for his son, who had just fled the scene in a gold minivan.

Deputies went into the mobile home where the incident had occurred and found a woman sobbing and upset, and deputies could hear several young children crying inside, the arrest report states.

She said the man was drunk, had fled in the van, threatened suicide by cop, was currently in possession of a BB gun and had possibly stabbed himself in the leg with a kitchen knife.

The man was located and detained for suspicion of driving under the influence.

The woman said the man was drunk and had started harassing her small child, calling him rude and racist names. She said she finally had enough of him harassing her son and yelled at him to back off, the arrest report states.

She said he responded by picking her up and body slamming her on the floor in front of their three kids. She said she tried to fight him off of her but he was much larger and stronger. She said he smacked her in the face and scratched her on the neck during the struggle, according to the arrest report.

The young son yelled at the man to get off his mother, then ran to a neighbor’s mobile home and asked them to call 911. She said the man then grabbed a kitchen knife and acted like he was stabbing himself in the upper thigh, but she realized he most likely did not puncture his own skin, according to the arrest report.

While attempting to interview the man, he told deputies he was having a diabetic issue and paramedics were called. While paramedics were evaluating him, deputies attempted once again to read him his rights, but he stated he did not want to hear his rights and did not want to speak with deputies.

Paramedics advised the man’s blood sugar was a little low and he was requesting to be transported to the hospital. Deputies were able to obtain a preliminary breath test of .201 BAC.

After he was medically cleared, the man was transported to the Carson City Jail and booked without incident on the charges. Bail: $4,274.

— An 18-year-old Carson City woman was arrested in the 400 block of Lee Street on Monday evening for suspicion of domestic battery and child endangerment, a gross misdemeanor.

The woman was arrested after deputies were dispatched to the residence where the woman lived with her parents, brother, and her brother's children, for a report of domestic battery. When deputies arrived, the 18-year-old was in the front yard of the residence and her mother was standing in the doorway of the home.

Deputies spoke to the mother of the 18-year-old, who was inside the residence with the girl's father and their grandchildren, both under the age of three. Deputies noted there was broken glass and debris all over the floor in the kitchen and living room.

The father told deputies that evening his son and daughter wanted him to take them to the store. The father said an argument ensued over his suspicions his children were using drugs.

He was giving them a ride down the street to the store when the son became verbally abusive, the father said, and began hurling slurs at him, so he turned around and went home.

The father said his daughter came inside and was screaming at her mother in front of the young children.

The mother told deputies her adult children were using cocaine and marijuana and that they had been extremely verbally abusive towards herself and their father. She said during the argument, the daughter pushed her and kicked her in the right shin.

The father told deputies he saw his daughter kicking her mother and came to break them up. His daughter responded by pushing and swinging at him while he still held his one-year-old grandchild.

She then grabbed several glass items off the table and threw them across the room, shattering them on the floor, the father said.

When speaking with the daughter, she said they had been arguing over family problems but refused to say exactly what. She admitted during the argument to pushing her mother and kicking her in the leg.

She also admitted to hitting her father while he held the baby, stating she thought he was coming to hit her so she attacked him as well.

She was taken into custody and booked without incident. Bail: $5,637.

— A 41-year-old Dayton man was arrested in the area of Old Clear Creek Road and US 395 for driving without proof of valid insurance, driving an unregistered vehicle, and violating his suspended sentence.

The man was arrested after deputies spotted a vehicle driving south bound on US 395 without license plates. When deputies spoke to the man, he was compliant, and stated his registration had just expired a few days before.

Deputies asked if he had anything in the car he shouldn’t, to which he replied the only thing he had was a beer. He said he was on Alternative Sentencing for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Alternative Sentencing advised they wanted the man arrested for violating his terms, which included a no alcohol clause. He was transported and booked without incident. Bail: $1,849; $1,000 cash only.
