Snow has been falling around Carson City and much of Northwestern Nevada all day long Monday, and shows no signs yet of letting up. Snow, in fact, is in the forecast through the night and into Tuesday before the Winter Storm Warning issued by the National Weather Service expires.
Some areas of the region are getting heavier snow accumulations than others.
In Northwest Carson City near Western Nevada College, for instance, there is about seven inches piled up so far on the pavement. With more on the way in the forecast overnight, there could easily be a foot or more of the powdery white stuff on the ground before it's all over.
