Carson City deputies make arrests for drug possession, sex offender failing to register
A 21-year-old Carson City man was arrested at a South Carson St. casino for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving without a license, registration, and insurance.
According to the report, Austin James Stone was arrested after deputies were dispatched to a casino in South Carson on a report that a man, later identified as Stone, matched a suspect description in a stolen vehicle case at the casino.
Deputies arrived on scene just after midnight as Stone was leaving the casino.
Deputies stopped the vehicle and found that Stone did not have a valid license, vehicle registration or insurance.
A K-9 Deputy was dispatched to the scene and performed an exterior sniff, yielding a positive result.
Under the driver’s seat, deputies located a container with four bags of a white, crystalline substance and residue, a plastic jar with the same substance, and with a pipe with heavy white residue and burn marks.
Bail: $4,638
— A 43-year-old Carson City man was arrested for felony failure to register as a sex offender.
According to the report, Phelan Ezra Monge was arrested after coming to the sheriff’s office to update his sex offender registration. Deputies were advised Monge has consistently been late to register.
Phelan is required to update is sex offender registration every 90 days. His registration date was listed at Jan. 11, 2022.
Since Phelan demonstrated a consistent failure to update his registration, he was taken into custody.
Bail: $5,000
