Supervisors will hear:
— An appeal on the approval of the proposed Carson Valley Meats Facility will take place at 5 p.m. All other items will begin at the usual time of 8:30 a.m. For information on the slaughterhouse appeal, please see our previous reporting here.
— A discussion and possible action will be held regarding settlements of certain claims in the pending opioid litigation of which Carson City is a party. Three proposed agreements will be presented.
Approval of the first agreement would confirm Carson City’s participation in the settlement agreement with AmerisourceBergen Drug Corporation, Cardinal Health, Inc. and McKesson Corporation.
Approval of the second agreement would confirm Carson City’s participation in the Janssen settlement Agreement, and the third agreement would amend the One Nevada Agreement, previously approved by the board on Aug. 5, 2021 by reducing the contingency fee amount owed to the law firm of Eglet Adams from 25 percent to 15 percent.
— A discussion and possible action will be held regarding a proposed ordinance amending general administrative provision of the city code, and to consider a business impact statement regarding the ordinance.
This is the first reading of a proposed ordinance which, if enacted, would make various changes to the code in order to update and revise every existing provision to “facilitate grammatical clarity and technical consistency in ordinance language, style and convention,” according to the agenda.
For more information on what will be changed and updated in this multi-year process, you can find the full explanation here.
— A discussion and possible action will be held regarding a contract with Capital Glass, Inc. to replace two skylights at the Carson City Aquatic Center for a total amount not to exceed $248,864 to be awarded without competitive bidding.
The project includes removing and replacing two existing skylights on the roof. The contract is being awarded without competitive bidding because no contractors responded to the project’s bid solicitation even after a second notice was issued. The engineer’s estimate was $230,000.
— A discussion and possible action will be held regarding a proposed increase in purchasing power for water meters, from the current amount of $35,784 to a new total not to exceed $92,218.
