In two separate incidents, Carson City men arrested for crashing car while drunk and in possession of a handgun
A 44-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the area of Winnie and Russet after allegedly crashing his car while intoxicated and in possession of a gun.
According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to the area of Winnie and Russet on report of a drunk driver stuck on a snowbank.
Deputies arrived and located Porsche high centered on a snowbank. The driver inside was slumped over the steering wheel.
Deputies opened the door and could immediately smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from inside the vehicle, according to the report.
Deputies also noticed a handgun located directly next to the driver.
Deputies also saw a silver flask and store bought preliminary breath test device on the floorboard.
Deputies asked the driver to step out of the vehicle, and noted he was “very unstable on his own two feet.”
After failing numerous field sobriety tests, the man consented to a preliminary breath test which resulted in a .202 BAC.
Deputies arrested the man for DUI first and possession of a firearm while intoxicated.

— Deputies similarly arrested another driver for DUI and possession of a firearm after the driver allegedly crashed his car at the corner of West 5th and Thompson St. Thursday afternoon.
Deputies were dispatched to the area just after 12:30 p.m. on report of an intoxicated man who had lost control of his vehicle and hit a fence before exiting the vehicle and leaving the scene.
Deputies made contact with the 30-year-old driver in the area of 5th and South Division St.
The man admitted to crashing the vehicle and was cooperative. He stated he had consumed three IPAs around 6 a.m. and had stopped drinking two hours prior to his accident.
He consented to a preliminary breath test which resulted in a .146 BAC.
While taking him into custody, deputies located a pistol in his vehicle.
Deputies booked the man on DUI 1st and possession of a firearm while intoxicated.
