Carson City arrests: 18-year-old booked for discharging non-serialized gun, child endangerment

An 18-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday for suspicion of five felony counts child endangerment, possession of an altered/removed serial number on a firearm and other offenses, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.

Anthony Kane Arroyo was taken into custody at 10:25 p.m. following an investigation into gunshots fired in the area of the Goni pit. He was also booked for suspicion of discharging a firearm in public and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, both misdemeanor offenses.

According to the booking report, Carson City sheriff's deputies were called to the Goni pit after a homeowner in the area reported hearing multiple gunshots. Deputies arrived and located a black SUV occupied by six subjects. The driver identified himself as Anthony Arroyo.

The other subjects in the vehicle were between the ages of 15 and 17. After speaking with and identifying all the subjects involved, deputies searched the area and located a non-serialized handgun with an extended magazine in the snow on the embankment where the vehicle was parked. A deputy took possession of the firearm, which was later booked into evidence, the report states.

Arroyo was read his Miranda warning where he told the officer he understood his rights and would speak. He stated the handgun belonged to him and he brought it to the Goni pit to shoot it with his friends. He was arrested for suspicion of possession of a firearm without a serial number, five counts of child endangerment, discharging a firearm in public and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The other five juveniles were later released to their parents. Bail: $10,000.

In other arrests:
— A man and woman were arrested late Tuesday after deputies were called to the Cherry Creek apartments for a report of shots fired, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.

At around 11:20 p.m. deputies were dispatched for a report of shots fired in the 3300 block of South Carson Street. Deputies arrived and found a woman standing outside of an apartment on the landing.

The female was ordered to come down the stairs. The woman refused to take more than 2 steps, identifying herself with her first name. As officers approached the woman they noticed she had blood on her shirt. She refused the order to come down the stairs, the report states.

Officers escorted her down the stairs and placed her in handcuffs. The woman was yelling vulgarities toward deputies on scene. Upon further inspection she had blood stains on her jacket, shirt and boots and refused to identify herself, the report states.

Deputies challenged the residence, where a man came out the door. He was detained and brought down the stairs. He was moved away from the immediate area of the apartment where deputies again alerted for anyone inside to come out. The man's wife came to the door and was detained and brought down the stairs. The apartment was then searched and cleared.

Carson City emergency medical services on scene and tended to the man's had which was cut. Deputies learned the two women in the residence had a verbal argument and that the man tried to stop the altercation by slamming a glass on the living room end table, breaking it, which cut his hand.

Deputies learned the man then went to the front door of the residence and discharged his pistol twice. Deputies learned one of the women took the pistol from the man and hid it in a hallway closet. Officers located both unfired and a spent casing and two magazines with rounds. The pistol was collected and booked into evidence. The man was read his Miranda rights and stated he understood his rights and didn't want to speak.

Through facts and circumstances of the case, and witness statement, the man was booked for discharging the firearm in public. Bail: $637. The woman was booked for failing to properly identify herself and obstructing. Bail: $412.

— A 32-year-old Carson City woman, Kady Berlinger, was arrested Wednesday for two felony warrants issued in December 2022 out of Carson City Justice Court. No bail hold.

— A 41-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday for a misdemeanor warrant issued Jan. 12, 2023 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $500.
