Rachel Lindgren wins fifth 'Jeopardy!' match, in running for Tournament of Champions seat
The Tournament of Champions could be in the future for Carson City native Rachel Lindgren on the popular TV quiz show “Jeopardy!” after winning her fifth-consecutive match.
Thursday’s game was very close. Lindgren went into Final Jeopardy trailing to fellow contestant and literary agent from New York, Rosie Jonker.
Jonker had a score of $13,800 to Lindgren’s $10,800. The third contestant, Jeff Machusko, a data analyst from Centennial, Colorado began Final Jeopardy with a score of $5,200. Lindgren wisely played the odds and strategized the best percentage play by wagering $0.
All three contestants answered the Final Jeopardy question incorrectly, but Jonker wagered enough to fall below Lindgren’s final score.
The Carson High School graduate managed to squeak out another win making it five in-a-row and has possibly earned herself a ticket to compete in the Tournament of Champions, where the contestants with the most wins from previous seasons compete against each other on a special episode.
Rachel's $10,800 win brings her five-match total to $75,999 and she will be back Friday at 7 p.m. to go for a sixth win.
