Carson City crime log: Deputies make drug and warrant arrests
A 33-year-old transient man and a 19-year-old Dayton man were arrested Wednesday, 8:53 p.m., in the 2000 block of Mayflower Way., a Carson City sheriff's deputy said. A breakdown of the alleged offenses follows:
Jonathon Louis Waters, 33, was arrested for felony suspicion of violation of pre-sentence supervision, felony possession of a controlled substance, felony possession of a controlled substance for sales second offense, gross misdemeanor destruction of evidence, misdemeanor resisting a public officer and possession of drug paraphernalia. Total bail: $16,549.
The 19-year-old man was arrested for misdemeanor possession of less than 1 ounce of marijuana, possession of an altered driver’s license and violation of suspended sentence. Total bail: $2,039.
A Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched to the 2000 block of Mayflower Way to investigate a report of a male subject looking into the reporting parties vehicle, the arrest report states.
According to the arrest report, the CCSO deputy located the suspects vehicle in the area and made contact with the 33-year-old subject standing next to the passenger side of the vehicle with the door open.
The CCSO deputy reportedly smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The deputy stated in the report that he spoke briefly with Waters and also the 19-year-old subject that was in the driver’s seat of the vehicle, the report states.
The CCSO deputy said that he saw Waters walk towards a fence by a home and attempted to hide something on the ground. He ordered Waters to show both of his hands and saw him drop something to the ground, the report states.
The deputy then ordered waters to show his hands a second time when waters tossed a glass object which shattered against the front of the house, the arrest report states.
The CCSO deputy said that due to Waters ignoring requests and attempting to destroy objects he attempted to detain him, the report states.
Waters pulled away and tried to escape the deputies grasp and a second deputy ran over to assist. The deputies then forced Waters to the ground as he continued to resist and eventually gained control of his arms and secured his wrists into handcuffs, the arrest report states.
A CCSO deputy then located a hypodermic needle, a marijuana cigarette and the remnants of the glass object that was tossed at the house. The arrest report states that the glass pieces recovered were covered with a white haze allegedly consistent with a methamphetamine and the items were found near the fence where the CCSO deputy previous, saw Waters drop them.
Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputies called in a canine deputy and after a free air sniff alerted to drugs in the vehicle a search of the vehicle was conducted. A bag of marijuana suspected to be more than 1 ounce, was located on the passenger seat where Waters was positioned when deputies first made contact, the arrest report states.
The 19-year-old suspect said Waters was smoking marijuana prior to the deputies arrival and that the marijuana in the vehicle belonged to Waters. Marijuana was also found in the center console and on the floor on the passenger side.
Deputies conducted a wants and warrants check on both subjects and found that both of them were on supervision with the Department of Alternative Sentencing. The 19-year-old subject also had an altered driver’s license showing a birthdate of 1988 instead of his true year of birth.
— A 29-year-old Mound House man and current Carson City Jail inmate was arrested Wednesday, 6 p.m., on a newly issued, confirmed warrant out of Carson City Justice Court.
The warrant for the arrest of Casey Cribbins was for felony sell/exchange/transportation of schedule one controlled substance and conspiracy to violate the uniform controlled substance act. Bail: $1,000 cash.
