Douglas County awards more than $125K in community grants to local non-profits
MINDEN — Douglas County Board of Commissioners awarded $125,200 in grant funding through the Community Grant Program to non-profit organizations that provide substantial benefit to residents of the community on January 6, 2022. Over the past 13 years, the Community Grant Program has awarded over $1,715,000 to help support countless non-profit organizations.
2021-2022 Douglas County Community Grant awardees are:
Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Nevada awarded $7,000
DIY STEM program materials, furnishing for trauma informed care quiet space
Carson Valley Community Food Closet awarded $5,000
Provide food assistance for Douglas County
Carson Valley Community Theater awarded $5,000
Upgrade sound system equipment
Community Services Foundation: Incredible Kids awarded $5,000
Program to reduce juvenile delinquency and after school crime
Douglas Center for Hope and Healing awarded $13,300
Camp Hope, a grief camp for children 7-17 years old
Foster Kinship – Family Support Program awarded $2,200
Grandparents raising grandchildren
Kids and Horses awarded $14,400
Services for helping children with disabilities
Me for Incredible Youth (MEFIYI) Foundation awarded $2,500
Leadership for teens life skill training
Nevada Rural Counties RSVP awarded $9,000
Assist seniors and those with disabilities to remain independent
Northern Nevada Dream Center awarded $5,000
Reach the hungry program, mitigate food insecurity in Douglas County

“Congratulations to all of our grant recipients. The work these organizations do for our community is invaluable,” said Board of County Commissioner Chairman Mark Gardner. “As part of our ongoing commitment to build a stronger more resilient community, these grants are designed to provide monetary support to non-profit organizations to fund a variety of local efforts and fulfill critical needs throughout the County.”
