Carson City man jailed for domestic battery; Washoe Valley man arrested for stealing vehicle registration
A 28-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 2600 block of Saddlehorn Road Thursday morning on the charge of domestic battery after allegedly throwing his girlfriend on a bed in an attempt to get her to leave.
Deputies arrived at the residence on report of a domestic dispute.
The man told deputies he was in the middle of breaking up with his girlfriend of two years. He said they had been living together at the residence for one year, and that his girlfriend was an alcoholic and he couldn’t handle her drinking anymore.
He said she had drank last night and he wanted her to leave. He said she left but then returned and slept on the couch during the night. At some point during the morning she moved to the bedroom and began to sleep on the bed.
The man said he wanted her to leave so he picked her up in an attempt to move her to get her to leave, and she scratched him on the right side of his face. Deputies noted the man had a dried up drop of blood on his face.
Deputies then spoke to the girlfriend, who smelled strongly of alcohol and appeared visibly upset. She said the boyfriend had picked her up and then threw her down back on the bed. She didn’t want to share much information, according to deputies, but said repeatedly that he picked her up from the bed.
She said that her nose hurt, but denied medical attention. She later admitted to deputies that after the boyfriend picked her up she scratched him on the face.
Due to both stories matching and the injuries consistent with the stories, the boyfriend was placed into custody at 8:23 am and was transferred without incident.

— A 40-year-old Washoe Valley man was arrested in the 3200 block of Market Street Friday morning on the charges of possession of stolen property, a gross misdemeanor, fictitious registration, and driving with suspended registration.
Deputies were patrolling and driving through a business’s parking lot when they saw a man in a parked car slumped forward in his seat, and appeared to be sleeping. The car had no front plate, and when deputies noted the back plate, dispatch reported that the vehicle had been suspended in January 2018.
However, the license plate had a registration sticker on the license plate, which did not match the suspension or expiration of the plates on the vehicle.
Upon closer inspection, deputies noted it was clear the sticker had been removed from another vehicle and taped with clear tape onto the vehicle the man was driving.
The man told deputies the car belonged to his girlfriend of eight years, who was currently in jail after being arrested on a failure to appear warrant for expired or suspended registration in Washoe County.
In the backseat of the vehicle, stolen property from several Carson City stores was found with the tags and barcodes still on them, along with a stolen license plate and several personal items of the man’s.
He was taken into custody without incident.
