Carson City Fire Department knock down fire at Rand Avenue apartment
Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies responded Sunday afternoon to a structure fire in the 1500 block of Rand Avenue. Firefighters knocked it down within minutes of arriving.
The fire was called in at around 4 p.m. Heavy smoke was visible from a second floor apartment, according to first responders on scene. According to a Carson City Fire Department battalion chief, the fire started in a recliner.
People are advised to stay clear of the area as firefighters are doing overhaul work at the scene.
The cause is unknown at this time. Two occupants of the apartment unit have been displaced. Red Cross has been contacted.
