Carson City weekend arrests: Man booked for felony carrying concealed gun without permit
A 20-year-old man was arrested Friday for allegedly carrying a concealed firearm without permit, a felony offense, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
Juan Angel-Martinez of Carson City was arrested following a traffic stop for an equipment violation that led to the man admitting he had a firearm in his waistband.
According to the booking report, a deputy was driving on South Carson Street and observed a vehicle driving without a light illuminating the rear license plate. The deputy conducted the traffic stop at South Carson and Colorado Street.
The officer made contact with the driver who began acting nervous. He advised he didn't currently have a license. The officer asked why he was acting so nervous. The man said it was because he didn't have a driver's license, the report states.
The officer collected the man's information and conducted a records check. He was asked to step out of the vehicle. He admitted that he was carrying a firearm in his waistband, the report states. The firearm was located in the man's front right waistband. The man was placed under arrest for alleged carrying a concealed firearm without a concealed weapons permit. He was also cited for driving without a valid driver's license and having a plate light out. Bail: $10,000.

— A 38-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday for suspicion of driving under the influence second offense and driving with a suspended license.
According to the booking report a deputy was traveling southbound on North Carson Street and Winnie. The officer was in the number 2 lane when a small dark colored vehicle turned left onto Carson Street from Winnie and into the southbound lanes going north, right at the deputy.
The officer pulled over and the vehicle passed. The deputy turned around and activated their emergency light and siren. The vehicle pulled over into a car wash on North Carson. The deputy made contact with the driver and could smell a faint odor of alcoholic beverage on his person, the report states. The officer did a records check and learned the man had a suspended driver's license for failure to appear.
As the man began to speak with the officer, he could smell a stronger odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. The officer asked him how much he had been drinking. The ma replied he just had two shots.
The man agreed to field sobriety test and a cleared large path for the field sobriety tests that took place on the side of the building out of the wind and snow. The man showed showed signs of impairment on the tests. He provided a preliminary breath test of .156 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. At jail he agreed to evidentiary breath tests with results of .102 and .101. Bail: $3,274.
— A 37-year-old woman was arrested Saturday for driving an unregistered vehicle and driving with a suspended Nevada driver's license. Bail: $749.
— A 29-year-old Carson City man, Gavin Knight, was arrested at 3:59 a.m. on Saturday for a felony warrant issued Dec. 4, 2023 through Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $20,000.
— A Portola, Calif., man was arrested Friday for a misdemeanor bench warrant issued Oct. 20, 2023 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000 cash.
— A 40-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday for a misdemeanor bench warrant issued Nov. 8, 2023. Bail: $1,000 cash.
— A 25-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Saturday for alleged misdemeanor obstructing a police officer.
According to the booking report, deputies were called to investigate a possible domestic battery. Officers were dispatched to a residence, and spoke with the reporting party who stated the woman was arguing with her father. The officer entered the residence and observed the woman on the couch. The officer could smell alcoholic beverages coming from her breath.
She began yelling and cussing, the report states. She then stood up and attempted to get past the officer. She was instructed several times to sit down. She continued to be uncooperative. A deputy attempted to gain control of the woman's left arm, however she pulled away and resisted as the deputy attempted to gain control of her arms. She was placed into handcuffs and read her Miranda rights. She provided a preliminary breath test of .297 and was taken to Carson City Hospital where she was cleared before returning to jail. She was booked for suspicion of obstructing a police officer. Bail: $362.
— A 61-year-old man was booked early Monday for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued Dec. 6, 2023 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $500.
