Carson City deputies arrest man for throwing rocks at business, stealing paper towels
A 31-year-old Reno man was arrested Tuesday for suspected commercial burglary after allegedly throwing rocks into a business and stealing paper towels, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
Deven Daniel Bustos was taken into custody in the 2000 block of East William Street following an investigation. According to the booking report, deputies responded to a report of a commercial burglary in progress, where a male suspect was seen breaking windows by throwing rocks.
Several security guards from a nearby casino were in front of the business advising the suspect made entry and was still inside, the report states. Then a security guard pointed out that the suspect had just fled out the back door carrying a large package of paper towels. The deputy observed the man enter the casino.
The deputy caught up to the suspect on the casino floor and was pulled to the ground. The suspect didn't resist and was placed into handcuffs. Deputies arrived on scene and a short time later collected the suspect's property and stolen paper towels, according to the report.
The man was read his Miranda warning. He identified himself and agreed to speak. He had alcohol on his breath and he seemed disoriented. The deputy advised him what he had done and advised there were multiple witnesses to the incident.
The man initially made several confusing comments about the situation. Eventually he admitted to breaking the window and going into the business because people were running around and scaring him. He said he needed a safe place to land so he grabbed the large package of paper towels, the report states. He advised he was in Carson City delivering before deciding to stop at the casino for a drink. Later he would tell the deputy that he was remorseful about what he did.
The deputy spoke with witnesses who said they saw the man pacing in front of the businesses as he checked for open doors and banged on the glass. They watched as the man picked up a rock and threw it into a massage business window. A witness said they saw him kicking out the glass and clearing it away as he entered the building.
The man was booked for felony commercial burglary. Bail: $25,000.

— A 47-year-old man was booked Tuesday for violation of a suspended sentence. The man was brought into the hospital by Carson City Fire Department paramedics. He had a preliminary breath test of .293. He was placed in civil protective custody. Deputies learned he is currently under supervision with the Department of Alternative Sentencing with a no-alcohol clause. DAS requested the man be placed under arrest for violation of a suspended sentence. Bail: $1,000 cash.
— A 43-year-old Gardnerville man, Scott York, was booked Tuesday for a felony failure to appear warrant issued out of Western Region Drug Court. No bail hold in lieu of hearing.
