Local music livestream Brother Dan Show celebrates three-year anniversary
With the dawn of a new year approaching, Carson City singer/songwriter Brother Dan Palmer is about to celebrate the successful completion of the third year of his 5:00pm Monday evening musical livestream. The Brother Dan Show began streaming the first week of 2019 and hasn’t missed a week since, even throughout the pandemic.
“It has definitely been a challenge” keeping the show going during the pandemic, says the long-time Northern Nevada resident. Originally streamed from A to Zen in Carson City, complete with a crew and weekly musical guest, the show has been streaming from Brother Dan’s home studio since May of 2020, with the musician serving as director, cameraman, and on-screen talent.
Though the production hurdles have been challenging, the work has been very fulfilling, with fans and friends tuning in from all over United States, and the world. Recent visitors to the show include fans from as far afield as the UK, Bavaria, Slovenia, Thailand, and not-so-far locations as Florida, Minnesota, S. Carolina, and even Nova Scotia.
Promoted under the hashtag #musicheals, people tune in on Monday evenings at 5pm Pacific, to unwind and get ready for the week ahead. Many of those people have become friends and regular viewers, and look forward to gathering together in cyberspace for their weekly check in.
The Brother Dan Show plans to welcome live audiences again, starting the first week of 2022. The plans include a new location, a new sponsorship, and will again allow for weekly guest appearances and interviews with local musical artists.
Plans are well underway for the renewed format and details, location, and guest artists will be announced soon.
