Volunteers needed to support Carson City area youth in foster care
This holiday bring HOPE to a child in foster care! CASA of Carson City (nonprofit) 501(c)(3) is recruiting compassionate, dedicated community volunteers that want to make a difference in a child’s life.
When a child is placed in foster care they need a strong, dedicated adult who will get to know them and their story. CASAs communicate with social workers, teachers and parents to better understand a child’s needs. CASAs will visit with the child to whom they are appointed wherever they reside.
CASAs advocate for a child’s best interest in Court and continue to advocate for that child until they can find a safe and permanent home. The goal is to reunify children with their parents, but there are times a permanency plan of adoption may be implemented.
That’s a lot for a young child to weather — having a CASA volunteer at their side enables a child to feel supported, heard and their wishes taken into consideration. Children appointed a CASA do better in school, find their permanent home and are less at risk to reenter foster care.
