Carson City's Do Drop In fundraiser this Friday at Governor's Mansion
The Do Drop In at 1895 E. Long Street in Carson City is home to the Rural Center for Independent Living and the area's only day center for the homeless and mentally ill. It receives no government subsidies, so it relies exclusively upon community support for the funds needed to keep its lights on and doors open.
This is why fundraisers are held periodically to benefit this vital community resource. The next one, being billed as the “Hoagie Hoedown,” is scheduled at the Governor's Mansion on Friday, Nov. 15 from 4:30 to 8 p.m.
The Hoagie Hoedown will have a western theme and feature custom-made hoagie sandwiches with sides and desserts in addition to raffle prizes, silent auctions and a wine bottle ring toss.
RCIL founder and Executive Director Dee Dee Foremaster will serve as Master of Ceremonies. Live music will be performed by Hick'ry Switch, a Carson City bluegrass band that's been making beautiful music together since 2003. Venue is the Nevada Room at the Governor's Mansion, 606 Mountain Street. Western attire is encouraged.
Tickets are $20 per person, $180 for a table of 10. To reserve seats in advance, call Jackie at 301-6929. You may pay at the door in cash or by check or credit card. Tickets can also be purchased at A to Zen, 1803 N Carson Street. If not sold out, tickets might also be available for purchase at the door. Every ticket comes with one complimentary raffle ticket.
