Organizer of progressive evangelical Christians to speak at Monday's Carson City Democratic tele-luncheon
Christina Forrester, Executive Director and Founder of Christian Democrats of America and the Christians Against Hate movement, will be the featured speaker at Monday's virtual Democratic luncheon.
The movement has grown through Christina’s social media efforts, grassroots involvement in political campaigns and the “What Are Your Values?” campaign, which was inspired by Christina’s music video of a song she wrote by the same name. She was a guest panelist at the 2012 Democratic National Convention, has appeared on PBS, CNN Radio, the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) and is a contributing writer for BlogHer and the Huffington Post.
Christina is the granddaughter of pioneer evangelist and minister Mary Love Cornell, one of America’s first traveling female evangelists whose message was one of love, compassion, and social justice. She’s also the daughter of evangelical pastors who actively help feed, clothe, and assist in the many needs of thousands every year at their church in Arizona. With such a solid foundation of growing up in a ministry serving the poor and hurting, Christina, practically since she was able to walk and talk, has been involved in ministry.
Christina was a youth pastor for three years, Praise and Worship Leader for ten years, a Deacon and Elder for a combined ten years – and that was all before the age of 25. After seeing the tremendous void in the public square of any type of community for Christians who were also Progressives or Democrats, Christina started Christian Democrats as a blog during the 2006 elections. Since then it has grown into a national movement giving Christian Democrats in America a national voice where there was none.
She is also a social media strategist, CEO of KISS Social Media Marketing, and a singer/songwriter/musician. She divides her time between D.C., Nashville, Los Angeles and Phoenix. She is also mother to very spoiled Papillon and Pomeranian rescues Sadie and Zippy. She holds a BA in Psychology from Arizona State University and is currently finishing a Master’s in the Liberal Arts media program at ASU.
Sponsored by the Democratic Men's Committee, this event is scheduled for noon on Monday, November 2nd, and will be held online via Zoom teleconference due to the restricted availability of in-person venues. Those wishing to be on distribution for these Zoom links can email Rich Dunn, Men's Committee Events Coordinator, at richdunn@aol.com.
