Carson High School junior places first in Race for the Cure
Carson High School junior Ethan Byassee placed first in Race for the Cure held Sunday at City Plaza in downtown Reno. The 17-year-old finished with a time of 17:23. Ethan is a member of the CHS Varsity Cross Country team and Track and Field teams.
Ethan is also a member of Health Occupation Students of America, also known as HOSA and plans to attend college to pursue a career in the medical field.
"I had asthma as a kid and overcame that, and feel fortunate to be able to run and support a great cause," he said.
The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is a series of 5K runs and fitness walks raises significant funds and awareness for the breast cancer movement, celebrates breast cancer survivorship and honors those who have lost their battle with the disease.
Since it started in 1983, the Komen Race for the Cure Series has grown from one Race with 800 people in Dallas to a global series of more than 150 Races with nearly 1 million people participating on four continents.
Susan G. Komen Nevada holds two Races a year, the Las Vegas Race for the Cure in May and the Reno Race for the Cure in October.
