Volunteers turn out for cottonwood wrapping at Carson City's East Silver Saddle Ranch
Another successful volunteer event was held this Saturday at East Silver Saddle Ranch in Carson City. Our department wants to extend our heartfelt appreciation to our small but mighty group of 4 who attended Saturday's cottonwood wrapping. We successfully wrapped 25 trees in about a 90 minute time span.
Another shout out goes to Lyndsey Boyer, our departments Senior Natural Resource Specialist, for providing us a lesson on beavers.
These newly wrapped cottonwoods will be protected from beavers cutting them down, letting the cottonwoods grow into large shade trees for the Carson community to enjoy along our iconic Carson River.
Thanks again to the individuals who came out. You have made a difference!
As a continuous reminder, our department has been making massive strides in helping revamp this area for the Carson community. Over a week ago, we removed more than 500 pounds of trash from East Silver Saddle Ranch thanks to the efforts of individuals and the NJROTC and continue to improve the area by protecting our beautiful cottonwood shade trees from beavers to installing a large parking lot and security lights.
We encourage the community to go see East Silver Saddle Ranch, especially as the cottonwoods start to turn yellow as fall rapidly approaches.
East Silver Saddle Ranch is located a mile off of Carson River Road on Sierra Vista Lane.
