Hello fellow anglers, the 2017 California fishing season has closed in Inyo and Mono counties for lakes and streams. Alpine County rivers and streams have also officially closed for the season. With the exception of the East Carson River that flows form Hangman's Bridge to the Nevada state line, this section is open all year with special regulations.

CARSON CITY — Rival high schools Carson and Douglas came together Wednesday night to raise over $10,000 for the victims of a recent car crash, six of whom were Carson High students.

A 30-year-old Carson City woman and an inmate at Carson City jail was booked on a warrant that amounted to 12 felony charges that alleged burglary, forgery and use of a credit card without consent, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

The demolition of the Kinkead building at 505 East King Street in Carson City continues. The demolition contract was awarded to local contractor Advance Installations, Inc. A high reach demolition excavator and Bobcat front loaders have been gutting the inside of the building from the bottom up, according to Deputy Public Works Administrator Chris Chimits.

UPDATE 2:20PM: A Red Flag Warning issued earlier this morning has been canceled due to arriving precipitation. A High Wind Warning remains in effect until 4 a.m. Thursday. A Flood Watch was issued Wednesday afternoon for the Carson City region, western Nevada and Lake Tahoe.

With valley gusts expected to top 70 mph today, the National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning and Red Flag Warning for the Sierra Front including Reno, Carson City, Carson Valley and Lyon County.

Carson City Fire Department, sheriff's deputies, Nevada Highway Patrol and Tahoe Douglas Fire were called Tuesday night to a rollover accident down an embankment at Highway 50 West/Spooner, a mile east of the Carson City-Douglas County line.

The Nevada Department of Transportation has wrapped up this season’s construction to reinforce a destabilized roadside slope on U.S. Highway 50 near Cave Rock at Lake Tahoe. Final construction will resume in the spring.

The Nevada Army National Guard landed a CH47F Chinook helicopter on the main lawn at Eagle Valley Middle School in Carson City on Tuesday.

UPDATE 5:08PM: Highway 395 is now open. Sonora and Tioga passes are closed due to incoming weather.

Highway 395 remains closed Tuesday at the Nevada-California state line as firefighters continue to battle the Chris Fire that began Monday west of U.S. Route 395, about five miles north of Sonora Junction near the Chris Flat Campground.

Toys for Tots in Carson City, Douglas, Storey and Lyon counties will be kicking off the season to bring Christmas Cheer to children in the local community. If you are in need of toys, the hotlines begin Nov. 27 at 9 a.m. and run through Dec. 22, 2017.
