August Carson City Ideas on Tap focuses on policing, criminal justice
The next Ideas on Tap is scheduled for Wednesday, August 18, 6 p.m. at the Union Eatery & Brewery, 302 N. Carson Street at Proctor.
The discussion will focus on "Policing and Criminal Justice: Finding a balance between protection and abuse of power."
"I hope this powerful, and complex topic will encourage many to attend," says Mike Smith, the coordinator and moderator of Ideas on Tap.
The panelists will include knowledgeable participants: Carson City Sheriff Kenny Furlong; Washoe County Undersheriff Wayne Yarbrough; Carson City District Attorney Jason Woodbury; and Deputy Attorney General Kelli R. Gallimore, Esq.
For the first time we will have a teenager, Kamden Butterfield, as a panelist to hear their perspective. "Too often we dismiss the concerns of our teens," according to Smith.
Mark your calendar now for August 18th, the Union features a full menu, and beverages for your enjoyment, and purchase. Come and enjoy a great discussion in a relaxed atmosphere.
Due to Nevada re-imposing a mask mandate I'm encouraging all attendees to wear your mask while inside at the Union, whether you're vaccinated, or not.
