Waste Management Addresses Pricing Change, Bill Message in Carson City
Waste Management announces an expected pricing change in Carson City trash service that went into effect this month and issues a correction for a misprint on the most recent bill.
July marked the one-year anniversary of expanded trash, recycling and green waste services in Carson City. That one-year mark brings with it an annual rate adjustment.
The formula for the adjustment uses a three year rolling average of the Consumer Price Index for garbage and trash service year-over-year in December (the month the agreement was signed.)
This year, that number is 4.22 percent impacting residential rates. The same adjustment is applied to commercial rates as well.
Typically, when an invoice reflecting a rate adjustment is sent to customers, the change is noted on the back of the bill in a box titled “Important Messages”.
Unfortunately, instead of highlighting the pricing change on July invoices, this box contained information that was not intended for customers in Carson City.
