Capital City Community Band awards the Richard Doede Scholarship
The Capital City Community Band awarded its Richard Doede Capital City Community Band scholarships to Jonah Toral at its Salute To Young Musicians Concert on Sunday.
The scholarship was established last year to honor a young member of the band who is a senior, has participated in the band, and plans to keep music in their future. The board of directors named the scholarship in honor of the band’s founding director Richard Doede.
Jonah has been a member of the CCCB for six years as a percussionist. He also participates in the CHS Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Marching Band, and Winter Drum Line. He has been accepted to TMCC where he plans to study music theory, Arranging, and composition. Jonah is also auditioning for the UNR Wolfpack Marching Band.
The band never charges for its concerts, so all the scholarships are funded by donations from the community and band members.
