Focus on Carson - Photography Contest in Progress
The Carson City Arts & Culture Coalition is accepting photographs for “Focus on Carson," a large-scale public art installation. The contest is open to all Carson City residents. The winning 20 to 30 photographs will be displayed as 3-by-5-foot images on a long vinyl mesh banner along a construction-site fence on the Hop & Mae Adams Foundation’s project at Curry and Telegraph Streets during summer 2016.
The photographer’s name, and the location and title of the artwork will be printed below the image on the banner. Each photographer may submit up to two images, taken in and around Carson City, and associated in some way with the city. Photos must be submitted by April 10, 2016. Winners will be selected by April 30, 2016. No entry fee is required.
Photos can be submitted by email to heart_of_a_gypsy@icloud.com, or posted on the Facebook group "Focus on Carson Photography Contest." Details and requirements are on the Arts Coalition website, artscarsoncity.com/news (click on the Focus on Carson link).
The contest will be judged by award-winning photographer Robert Petersen, photography instructor at Western Nevada College, Fallon Campus. His photo, "Hazen Blue Bug Reflection,” was a winner in Nevada Magazine's 2014 Great Nevada Picture Hunt.
