NV Energy seeks customer input to develop Economic Recovery Transportation Electrification Plan

As part of its commitment to help achieve Gov. Steve Sisolak’s and the Nevada Legislature’s vision for Nevada’s new clean energy economy, NV Energy is investing up to $100 million to rapidly expand electric vehicle charging station infrastructure over the next three years through its Economic Recovery Transportation Electrification Plan and is launching the program by seeking public input on charging station locations and their knowledge of EVs.
Starting Wednesday, Nevada residents, tourists and NV Energy customers can visit nvenergy.com/ertep to suggest locations of their preferred charging station locations by noting the address on a map of Nevada. This stakeholder input will help NV Energy inform where charging stations are needed to accelerate transportation electrification.
“Access to charging is one of the barriers to EV adoption and it’s important for us to know where our customers and visitors would like to charge their current or future EV,” said Marie Steele, NV Energy Vice President of Electrification and Energy Services. “Through ERTEP, NV Energy will create more charging station access across our Nevada service territory and prioritize historically underserved communities to ensure all Nevadans can enjoy the economic and environmental benefits of electric vehicles.”
In addition to seeking public input on charging locations, NV Energy invites its customers to participate in a survey that is also available on nvenergy.com/ertep. Responses will help shape future programming and customer education options. Survey topics include preferred vehicle type and features, charging availability and current barriers to owning an EV.
ERTEP builds upon the foundation NV Energy has established in transportation electrification and sustainability and will help drive economic recovery and accelerate transportation electrification through five key programs. The plan strategically expands charging access and prioritizes historically underserved communities, increases access to clean energy job opportunities and supports EV driver tourism.
NV Energy has supported the growth of EVs in Nevada since 2007 and already offers tools, resources, and special rates that help make buying an EV or building charging infrastructure easier.
• Lower-Income EV Rebate: Rebates of $2,500 are available to eligible customers for the purchase of a qualifying new or used EV or plug-in hybrid. The rebate offer is available through June 30, 2022, to the first 100 qualified applicants on a first-come, first-served basis.
• EV Charging Incentives: Incentives are available for residential single-family customers who own an EV to install level 2 EV chargers at their homes. Multiple incentive options are available for businesses to install level 2 EV chargers and Direct Current (DC) chargers at a workplace.
• EV Time-of-Use Rate: Customers can pay a discounted rate if they charge their EV during the established charging period, from late night to early morning hours of the day. The rate applies to all the energy used during that period.
• EV Comparison Tool: Customers can use the comparison tool to understand the savings potential of switching to an EV.
• EV Dealer: An easy-to-use tool to locate EV dealers in Nevada.
