Changing Lives in Carson City is topic for February Leisure Hour Club meeting
On Wednesday, February 20, Carson City Leisure Hour Club members will hear from C.I.R.C.L.E.S co-founder and former Carson City Supervisor Shelly Aldean about the exceptional work of C.I.R.C.L.E.S. She will be joined by Thomas Blake, Jr., C.I.R.C.L.E.S. program manager, for the presentation.
Twelve years ago, a handful of community leaders set a goal of making lives better in Carson City, and the C.I.R.C.L.E.S. Initiative began. The organization is a local Carson City nonprofit that helps elevate people out of poverty by giving them the tools they need to become economically self-sufficient.
Joining Ms. Aldean and Mr. Blake will be a successful program participant and her daughter. They will share their perspectives of this vibrant and life-changing organization.
If you would like to attend this event, please contact the Club’s reservation chair at 775-400-2647 no later than 8 pm on Sunday, February 17 to make your reservation. The meeting is preceded by a buffet dinner at 6 p.m. in the Carson Nugget Capitol Ballroom. Reservations for the meeting and dinner are required.
The Leisure Hour Club, established in September of 1896, is Carson City’s oldest continuously meeting social organization. Celebrating its 123rd year, the organization is focused on its goal of promoting knowledge of important issues, science, music and literature. More information on the Club and its activities can be found on its Facebook page.
