Carson City Parks, Rec and Open Space to host Full Moon Hike this Friday night
The Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department will host January's Full Moon Hike on the Wild Horse Trail this Friday, Jan. 10. Not only will the hike feature some wild horses and the "Wolf Moon" it will also be a celebration of Carson City's first Winter Trails Day.
In Carson City, we are fortunate to have many trails that are available to the public all year long, including the winter months. This year, we will be celebrating our trails with this brand new holiday. Trails Coordinator, Gregg Berggren, will be hiking with us to answer questions about our amazing trails and offer information about this unique trails holiday.
The adventure begins at the Wild Horse trailhead located at the North end of Centennial Park at 6:30pm. The hike is moderate, but covers about 1.5 miles over some rocky terrain.
Registration will start at 6 p.m., but participants are encouraged to register ahead of time at www.carson.org/ccpr. Bring water, a flashlight, good hiking shoes, and remember to dress for the weather.
Dogs are welcome but must remain on a six-foot leash. Minors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
For more information contact the Parks Department, (775) 887-2262, or email Park Ranger Aide, Michael Wood at MWood@carson.org.
