Students and employees returning to Carson Middle School in Carson City for the first day of school Monday, August 19, 2024, will notice a complete facelift of their school’s cafeteria.

It was announced in April that an application had been submitted for a business permit to construct a new Sprouts Farmers Market grocery store as well as a Planet Fitness.

On a warm and breezy Friday night, Bill Witt and his family, friends, and others came by the Red Wing Shoe Store at 444 E William Street in Carson City to join in the celebration of the store he now owns after having been an employee.

Across the country, and the world, school districts are taking a look at their cell phone use policies and in many cases, banning cell phone usage in schools outright.

Rumor has it the Carson City School District is considering a similar policy change, though official word has not been announced one way or the other.
