William St.

The agenda includes renewal of a proposed multifamily project permit, a radio tower appeal, among other items.

— Carson Luxury Housing LLC is proposing to construct a 12-unit multifamily project within the Stafford Greens Planned Unit Development on a property zoned Neighborhood Business near Stafford Way and Silver Sage Drive. A special use permit was approved for the project on Feb. 22, 2023; however, the applicant has experienced delays in obtaining permits and the SUP expired.

— An appeal will be heard regarding a denial of a building permit to construct a 62-foot-tall amateur radio tower on a property zoned single family one acre. The permit was denied based on the height; amateur radio structures are allowed within residential zoning so long as they do not exceed 40 feet.

— Commissioners will discuss an application to construct a 3,702 square foot detached barn on a single family two acre property for use in a therapeutic riding stable business which would hold a maximum of four therapy program horses living on-site.

— Commissioners will discuss several SUPs regarding billboard retainment from a number of businesses within Carson City.

To read the full agenda please click here.

If you would like more information about an agenda item, please contact the planning department at 775-887-2180 or through planning@carson.org.
News Tue, 25 Jun 2024 17:34:29 +0000 Kelsey Penrose 131286 at https://carsonnow.org DJ Trivia Night at Reno Public Market https://carsonnow.org/reader-content/02/21/2024/dj-trivia-night-reno-public-market
<fb:like href="https://carsonnow.org/reader-content/02/21/2024/dj-trivia-night-reno-public-market" send="false" layout="button_count" show_faces="false" width="350" action="like" font="arial" colorscheme="light"></fb:like>

By Ian Sturtz

Get ready to test your smarts at DJ Trivia! The public is invited to attend this patriotic event.

Washoe County will be the 59th Charters of Freedom setting permanently placed in communities across the country by Foundation Forward, a 501(c)(3) educational Nonprofit created by Vance and Mary Jo Patterson of Burke County, North Carolina. The inspiration to set up Foundation Forward followed their first visit to the National Archives to see the founding documents.

Vance Patterson, Founder - “Seeing something our founding fathers had actually penned, and then seeing their signatures – Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Rutledge, Wilson and the others, I just got goosebumps. And, then when we moved over and saw those first three words of The Constitution, We The People, I actually got a lump in my throat.” “It was really an emotional experience,” Vance recalled.

The Pattersons now work to bring that emotional experience to communities across the country, having completed settings in Alabama, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina, South Carolina, South Dakota, Virginia, Missouri, Florida and as far west as Wasilla, Alaska.

Foundation Forward’s mission is to install Charters of Freedom settings in easily accessible locations so communities can view these founding documents in a proper setting without having to incur the costs of traveling to Washington, D.C. These settings will provide a hands-on education in American History and Civics. “Imagine if you will school teachers bringing their 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classes to their Charters of Freedom for annual field trips to learn a little about our founding fathers, the history surrounding the beginning of our country, and how the government is meant to serve and protect We The People,” says Vance in his dedication speech. This local access will also provide a place for citizens to gather, celebrate, honor, and reflect.

A Donors Pedestal has been erected next to the Charters of Freedom setting, and a Field of Honor with Legacy Pavers will be installed in front of the U.S. Constitution for Washoe County citizens to honor loved ones or to recognize active duty military or veterans, first responders, businesses, or organizations. I understand the need to move the Fireworks this year and the need for RSVP to have a fund raiser. However 4th of July is about celebrating Freedom and Equality for all Americans, not just those who can pay for a good view.

I believe our City could find a way to manage traffic in and out of Centennial Park to afford all of Carson residents a premium family friendly viewing area. Why not use this necessary change as an opportunity to improve our community celebration rather than downgrade it? I believe our leaders could do this.

I imagine that RSVP's golf tournament will attract non-family men and women who do not celebrate with their children on the 4th. Perhaps RSVP could attract the Family Crowd and increase their revenues by asking for $5.00 per car for entrance into the park.
Carson City Fireworks Opinion Fri, 24 May 2024 19:50:36 +0000 130853 at https://carsonnow.org Live at Reno Public Market: Purusa and JJ Braves https://carsonnow.org/reader-content/06/22/2024/live-reno-public-market-purusa-and-jj-braves
<fb:like href="https://carsonnow.org/reader-content/06/22/2024/live-reno-public-market-purusa-and-jj-braves" send="false" layout="button_count" show_faces="false" width="350" action="like" font="arial" colorscheme="light"></fb:like>

J Braves is a rock artist from Los Angeles on a mission to rattle the foundations of venues coast to coast with his bombastic sound.
